What Really is Offsite SEO?

Offsite SEO, otherwise known as “Off-Page SEO,” is actions taken outside of your website to increase your sites ranking within search engine results page (SERP). The diagram above are examples of how Offsite SEO is done, through blogs, forums, directories, and more! I will be pointing out key facts from another blog post on Offsite SEO from Moz.

Creating a backlink is the heart and soul of what Offsite SEO is all about. SERPS use backlinks to make your webpage more credible. You could make two high quality webpages with the same amount of information, but, the one with backlinks will rank higher than the one without. The website without any backlinks likely won’t rank at all because there is no credibility on that site. Increasing your search rankings is the main foundation of what Offsite SEO is.

Different Types of Links

Natural Links: These are links that are given without any action of the owner’s.

Manually Built Links: These are links that are created through link-building activities. All of the highlighted sources on this website are examples of Manually Built Links, because they backlink to the reputable sources page.

Self-Created Links: This is the action of creating a backlink on another online directory to help generate more web traffic to your own site. An example of this is making a Facebook Post linking your website to get more traffic to your site.

Non-Link Offsite SEO

  • Social Media Marketing
  • Linked and Unlinked Brand Mentions
  • Influencer Marketing
  • Guest Blogging

Make sure you generate links to your website! This is the foundation of Offsite SEO and is one of the main key ways to get yourself more web traffic. If you neglect backlinks, your website will likely never rank and you will not be successful. It is all about getting those clicks, the more clicks you get on your website the more credible your site will appear to be in similar searches related to what your website is about.
