What is Paid Search?

Lets say you type something into Google, for instance, “SEO” Google will give you a list of results right away, and digital marketers refer this to a term called SERP (Search Engine Results Page). A paid advertisement will look like this on Google. It will be highlighted in GREEN TEXT and will appear at the top of the search results. Organic text is highlighted in BLUE TEXT because it is relevant to you are looking for but will not meet top of the page rankings because you are not paying for your site to be advertised at the top.

Companies and other people will create a Google Ads Search Campaign, which in broader terms means Google will charge you every time someone clicks on your paid advertisement/link. Thankfully, paid search is a little different because it grasps relevant information to get people to click on your site.

You might be asking yourself, should I actually pay for advertisements and create a Google Ads Search Campaign? Think about the following questions below before making your selection.

  1. Do you want your business to appear at the top of the results page when comparing different products.?
  2. Do you want your business to appear at the top of the results page when people are comparing the same products you offer?
  3. Do you want your business to appear at the top of the results page when people are looking at competitors of yours?
  4. Can I allocate the correct amount of funds needed to be able to support this campaign?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, then I recommend you make a Google Ads Search Campaign. It can be extremely beneficial to your business, especially if you are just starting out or want to spread the word about your business!

You have to pick the right keywords and make sure you are targeting to the correct people to get adequate click through rate (CTR).
